I mean yea u can do a workout at ur goal 5k pace. Yea you can work yourself to run a 5k at 13:00 but that won’t be any good when you need to run that outside
The injury rate is much higher on the treadmill vs outdoor running….the push off is completely different, not only the ground is moving for you, but your legs are forcefully pulled back too…..plus the steps/cadence are always the same lenght , does causing extra stress on plantar, achilles, quads mostly……even in the current situation, rather go outside, than on a treadmill…….!!!

I got a 14min 5k time from predominantly treadmill running with track speed work 2 x per week. It worked for me. I find treadmill training motivates me more. But now im running on non motorised treadmill and soft grass speed work which is helping.
Don’t have to do treadmill in Kenya because weather is good, weather in England is freezing wet cold winter so not much choice but treadmill better than nothing treadmill, plus in a busy city lot less chance of getting run over on a treadmill, 👍

You know whats ironic is that now because they close all gyms I do my runs outside (which I think may be illegal here. I do them at around 1:00am on a school 209 meter track 100meter away from my home (like walking a dog), while every one is sleeping.
I just don’t give a shit any more, if I see a cop 👮♀️, I will probably have to race it.
We provably not going to have any races in 2020.
The “marathons” are going to be the last to open up. (Since they where the first to cancel)
And you know what they say about the so called “second wave” in autumn.

Zwift cycling has hundreds of pace specific sessions some made by pro teams/GB coaches. The training is better for cycling in zwift as you don’t have traffic lights and shit drivers so the reps have no unwanted stops. It’s good especially if you live in the city or don’t have hills or good roads to train on
the only benefit of treadmill running is the mental strength it gives you from all the boredom
What if your county is on lockdown, would doing only treadmill running be better than doing nothing, or will it increase injury or work yourself in a wrong way?
I love treadmill running, before they closed all gyms, I used to do 90% of my winter running on a treadmill around 100miles/week.
There are benefits of treadmill.
1) soft surface
2) pace control
3) sauna after a run (recovery)
4) group stretching exercise (fun to watch girls do stretching too)
5) easy access to water and food after a run
6) weather independent
7) less chance of injury
But of course there are benefits of running outside too.
