TREADMILL WORKOUT: HILL REPEATS
2 minutes of watching me run on a treadmill? YES PLEASE!
@1:38 – “Crime scene at the gym…cuz I just MURDERED that treadmill!”
@3:16 – (no comment…just watch!)
– 30-40 mins of treadmill running at highest incline (mine = 15%) and a difficult but sustainable pace (mine = 5.0 up to 6.0mph)
– 1-2 mins of power-hiking–same incline, slower pace
– 1-2 mins of running at slightly faster than original pace (feel the burn!)
– walking cool down to get heart rate under control
Purpose: if you can get efficient at running uphill for long periods of time, I promise you will shave minutes (if not hours!) off your next ultramarathon time! A steep two mile hill at the end of a 50 miler could take 25 mins or an hour–which would you prefer?
