Patients With a High Workload During Treadmill Exercise Echo

Dr. Robert McCully, a staff cardiologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, shares results of a study published in the December 2013 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings. This study reveals that for patients who achieve a high workload at the time of treadmill exercise echocardiography, the echocardiographic findings do not provide incremental prognostic information. This should assure physicians that standard treadmill exercise testing can provide comparable prognostic information in such patients, whose short- and medium-term prognosis is favorable.
